MATTRESSES

THE TROUBLE WITH MATTRESSES

100 mattresses were generously donated to victims of Hurricane Sandy and held in a warehouse waiting for distribution to needy families.

When politics delayed the housing re-construction process, these mattresses sat

for over a year, grown moldy, and now needed to be transported to landfill-

and families, still without beds, were, horrifyingly, still without homes.

Where had the millions in donations gone?

Why were families still homeless?

Why would 100 mattresses go from generous gift to garbage expense?

This familiar scenario had unfolded far too often- there HAD to be a solution.

The gridlock politics behind the losses were a larger problem than an immediate solution could remedy, but...

What if those mattresses could have been held by the company who donated them until they were ready to be delivered?

What if each mattress could have been

to families AFTER their homes had been restored?

THE OBSTACLES

Millions in cash, products, and services gets generously donated for needs around the world.

Champions of a diverse tapestry of local and multi-national philanthropic endeavors are infusing Hope where there is hardship.

The OBSTACLES, however, seem UNIVERSAL:

✖️Connecting with donors.

✖️Fund Raising for everything from Office Supplies

to MISSION goals. Fundraising alone is it's own time

consuming, financial burden.

✖️Operating Costs such as fair and reasonable salaries,

office rentals, electric bills, computer techs, accountants,

phone bills, etc. need to be explained, understood

and transparent to the General Public.

✖️RED TAPE constantly complicates

Acquisition, Storage and Delivery of donations.

✖️Waste from expired or unhealthy food, clothes too

threadbare to wear, moldy mattresses,

good intentions lost to politics, inefficiency and

missed connections.
